The 5 Best Magicians in Melbourne Who Will Steal the Show at Your Next Event

Technical Skills: We looked at how polished and reliable the magicians’ tricks are. Are their routines smoothly performed?

Professionalism: We considered how punctual, prepared, and easy to work with the magicians are. This includes communication before the event and how they handle unexpected situations.

Audience Engagement: We focused on how well the magicians connect with the crowd. Can they keep people entertained? Do they adapt performances to different ages, group sizes, and energy levels?

Pricing: We assessed whether the cost matches the quality and length of the performance.

There’s usually a quiet moment at events when things slow down a bit. People have eaten, the music dips, and everyone starts looking around for something to do.

I remember being at a birthday when that moment didn’t last long at all. A magician walked in, and within minutes, people were laughing, guessing, and completely hooked.

That’s the kind of impact a good magician can have. In a city like Melbourne, where events range from laid-back gatherings to big corporate functions, having the right magician can really lift the whole atmosphere.

That’s why our team looked for the best magicians in Melbourne. These are the ones who know how to entertain a crowd and make your event one to remember.

How much does it cost to hire a magician in Melbourne?

Hiring a magician in Melbourne usually costs anywhere from about AUD $200 for a short, simple performance to over $2,500 for high-end entertainment at big events.

1. FELIX the Magician – Melbourne Magic Entertainer

Business hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours

Website

FELIX the Magician is the kind of performer who drifts from group to group. He slips into conversations and somehow leaves people wondering.

From what we’ve heard, he’s great at blending in. He’s not competing with speeches, but adds little bursts of amazement that keep the energy alive. At one Christmas party, everybody said he got everyone laughing and engaged.

There’s also a strong emphasis on how interactive his performances are. He doesn’t run through a rigid script. Instead, he adapts his humour and delivery depending on who he’s talking to.

Several clients mentioned how he managed to engage everyone from young kids to older guests without it feeling forced or awkward.

What stood out is how consistently he’s described as easy to work with. He’s professional, punctual, and approachable.

That said, his style is intentionally intimate. For those hosting a massive event where people are spread out and expecting a big spectacle, this might not be the best fit.

Pros

  • Naturally engaging
  • Strong close-up, roving magic
  • Highly interactive
  • Appeals across age groups
  • Consistent professionalism

Cons

  • Not designed for large audiences

We only wish we had more time to see all of his tricks ourselves!

“Felix performed roving magic during the cocktail hour at our wedding and we absolutely loved it. We only wish we had more time to see all of his tricks ourselves! Throughout the night so many of our guests came up to us saying how incredible he was…”

“Do not hesitate to book Felix! He is an excellent entertainer, everybody loved his magic. His communication was excellent leading up to the event, I’ll definitely book him again! Thanks Felix.”

There’s a big difference between a magician who does tricks and a magician who builds an experience you keep replaying in your head days later.

Our team heard that Impossible Occurrences sits in the second category with its theatrical dinner show. We just had to try the experience.

At the centre of it all is Luke Hocking. With his sharp suit, calm confidence, and cheeky humour, we could definitely say he’s worth the visit if your friends or date don’t know what to do at night.

Every moment was impressive. The pacing is right, with smooth transitions between close-up tricks, mind reading, and bigger illusions. We weren’t sitting there waiting for the next good bit.

We also loved the whole audience interaction. It’s not just one volunteer getting pulled up. At some point, everyone gets involved. My teammate’s engagement ring was even used in a trick!

It’s a seated show in a more intimate setting, so it works really well for adults and date nights. It’s less ideal for younger kids, though. The show is recommended for 10+.

We’ve heard that Luke also does roving magic for events. Same style, but shorter. But from what we can tell, the full show in the Marriott Hotel is really where everything comes together.

Pros

  • Strong performer
  • Consistent, high-impact tricks
  • Great pacing
  • Audience involvement
  • Intimate, theatre-style setting
  • Blends multiple styles well

Cons

  • Not for younger children

His tricks were jaw-dropping

“…The star of the night, magician Luke, is an outstanding performer! He had that classic, old school magician charm. Sharp suit, commanding stage presence and a perfect mix of humor and mind blowing illusions. His tricks were jaw dropping. My husband and I like to think we’re pretty switched on, but we kept leaving each moment saying, “How did he do that?!” and none of our theories add up. We’re already planning to go back just to relive the experience all over again…”

It was one of those experiences that leaves you smiling long after you leave

“I went to this magic show and it was absolutely splendid! ✨ I laughed so much from beginning to end, and the time passed incredibly fast I didn’t even notice how quickly the show was over. The magician was amazing, full of energy and humor, and the tricks were mind-blowing. It was one of those experiences that leaves you smiling long after you leave. Definitely worth seeing!”

Having a magician at your party can already upgrade the vibe. But having a magician who’s also like a circus performer, stand-up comedian, and illusionist? Your party would make headlines! If that’s what you want, then Chris Morant is the guy to call.

His shows lean heavily into energy and interaction. They’re loud, playful, and deliberately chaotic in the best way. One client described that their experience with him was entertaining from start to finish.

What really separates Chris from the sea of magicians is how far he pushes beyond magic. Fire breathing, juggling, and mime are a lot, but he could all do it. It seems to be exactly why people remember him.

For those people who want a lot of entertainment without having to hire multiple people, he seems to be a wise choice.

A lot of people also told us how engaging and friendly he is, especially with kids and mixed crowds. One group even mentioned how he managed to entertain both residents and staff in a shared setting.

With all that skill set of an entertainer, it’s not difficult to see why he’s very in demand. We suggest booking him early.

Pros

  • Highly engaging and interactive
  • Strong appeal for kids and families
  • Unique blend of skills
  • Versatile and adaptable
  • Professional and personable

Cons

  • High demand

He was the fresh, varied entertainment our event needed

“Chris was a fantastic addition to this year’s Foster Ag Show! He was the fresh, varied entertainment our event needed. He was great at engaging with families and making sure he was able to be enjoyed by everyone around the grounds. As a family event organiser, I’d highly recommend him!”

“We had an absolute pleasure of having Chris, the magician, entertain our residents and staff, and he was fantastic! Both our residents and staff enjoyed watching him twist balloons into all kind of fun and creative figures.”

4. Max the Magician Melbourne

For those looking for a kids’ party magician in Melbourne, Max the Magician is a great choice.

Multiple people reported how he keeps the entire room engaged for the full 45-minute show. It’s no small feat when you’re dealing with 9–10-year-olds who usually have short attention spans.

He’s also very professional. He turns up early, is easy to book (even on short notice), and is friendly.

In terms of format, he’s not boxed into one style. His structured 45-minute stage show is the core offering (especially for birthdays and schools), but he also does roving close-up magic.

That versatility makes him useful as both a main act and an icebreaker, depending on what the event needs.

While he can do adult-friendly performances, his branding and core energy lean heavily toward family and kids’ entertainment. If you’re after something more sophisticated, some magicians specialise more narrowly in that space.

Pros

  • Adapts well to different audiences
  • Strong engagement with both kids and adults
  • Reliable and professional
  • High-energy
  • Versatile performance formats
  • Well-suited for kids’ parties

Cons

  • Might be too animated for formal settings

We had an amazing experience with this magician!

“We had an amazing experience with this magician! The performance was outstanding, and his polite and friendly nature made the session even more enjoyable. Both kids and adults were fully involved from start to finish. The show was engaging, entertaining, and truly memorable. Highly recommended for any event!”

He adapted to the audience and was flexible with his show

5. Will Marks

Phone: +61 487 272 538

Business hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours

Website

What stands out first about Will Marks is that he’s very much a close-up operator. He’s the kind where you’re standing there thinking you’ve got everything under control, and suddenly your watch is on his wrist.

People aren’t just impressed with his tricks, but also confused in the best way. As much as possible, he also involves the crowd. That’s what seems to keep the crowd glued to him at each passing moment.

We love how he incorporates personality alongside the magic. During the tricks, he chats, remembers people, and adjusts depending on the crowd. We’ve heard about how he makes an effort to switch things up for regulars too!

He also seems really good at reading the room. A few people mentioned how he matched the energy of the event. Some magicians can feel a bit… scripted. Well, he doesn’t come across that way. It’s more natural with him.

However, since he focuses on close-up magic, he’s not really built for big stage-style shows. If you’re planning something with a large audience, you might want someone else.

Pros

  • Very strong close-up magic
  • Highly engaging with guests
  • Great at reading the room
  • Flexible during events
  • Good for repeat books

Cons

  • Not suited for large stage performances

Will was very engaging with the crowd

“We had Will perform at a party recently, and everyone there agreed it was the best thing i could’ve ever spent money on- Not only was his magic incredible, but Will was very engaging with the crowd and knew how to match the energy perfectly, which was so important to having a great time. I’m so so glad I picked Will for this event.”
