The 5 best cat boarding in Melbourne that provide a safe and stress-free stay for your feline friends

Environment: We looked for cat boarding facilities that provide a calm and stress-free environment, so that cats feel comfortable during their stay.

Screening standards: We only selected the catteries that implement strict screening and safety policies to ensure that the cats are admitted to a healthy and risk-free environment.

Enclosure options: We looked into catteries that provide spacious and well-thought-out enclosures, from single pens to family suites.

Perks and discounts: We also considered extra touches, such as playtimes, grooming, cat taxi, as well as deals for extra stays. These additional perks show commitment to pet comfort and owner convenience.

For us cat owners, it’s general knowledge that cats are so fussy when it comes to changes, especially in routine and environment. So when it comes to leaving them behind when we go away to travel, you must leave them in a stress-free environment— and I can help you with that.

I know the best cat boarding facilities in Melbourne that provide more than food and temporary shelter, but also care, attention, and comfort.

I can assure you that these places will put you at ease while you’re away.

How much does cat boarding cost in Melbourne?

Cat boarding in Melbourne usually costs around $25 to $100 per day. These rates can significantly cost more for multiple cats or more luxurious accommodations.

What a fantastic place

“Our 2 cats were here for 9 days. The whole process of booking was very straightforward. I dealt with anyone with Ruby, and I felt reassured that my cats would be in good hands. I got photos a couple of times throughout their stay and was so happy to hear that one of our cats, who’s extremely shy and timid, was out of her crate within the day and moving around the pen. Would highly recommend and will definitely be using Meow Mansion in the future. Thank you again for looking after our fur babies.”

Fantastic job

“I’ve taken my cat Violet here over Christmas and Easter the last few years and they always do a fantastic job looking after her. They are very accommodating and caring, as well as flexible and communicative regarding booking dates and availability. I like that they give updates on how my cat is doing, give her individual attention and play and offer to brush her, give treats, etc. – she’s never anxious or scared and settles right back in at home, which is how I know she’s treated well and enjoyed her holiday as much as I did! Meow Mansion really goes above and beyond a standard cattery service, which I’m extremely grateful for and will continue to bring my cat here as I know she’s in good hands!”

Can not rate Cat Camp high enough

“They were wonderful! I left my cat here for one week and he was so well looked after. My cat is an older cat and has never been in a cat boarding place before, so I wasn’t sure how he would do. The staff were great and were happy to answer any questions and provided updates and photos. The location is extremely clean and all the cats look very comfortable. They even provided me with some great tips that worked for my fussy-eating cat. I would highly recommend it to others.”

The Catz Pyjamas is another cat boarding provider in Melbourne that’s trusted by many owners. They’ve been operating since 2012, offering a calm and stress-free environment for your feline friends.

The facility offers single, double, and triple pens, making it convenient if you ever own more than one cat. And the best part is, these pens can be tailored for cats that are more aloof or have mobility needs.

These pens are equipped with beds, pull-down blankets, hiding areas, and comfortable furnishings to help cats feel secure. The facility is also well-lit and temperature-controlled.

During their stay here, food, litter, and lots of love are provided for your pet. However, owners are welcome to bring their own food and toys if necessary — whatever will make the cat’s stay more comfortable.

Their daily rates are affordable as well, with a 10% discount for longer stays of 29 days or more.

But of course, since the facility is trusted by many cat owners in Melbourne, they get booked out pretty fast, especially on holidays. So, during high-demand periods like Christmas and Easter, you’ll need to book at least one week ahead.

Pros

  • Strict screening
  • Transparent prices
  • Pen options
  • Trusted by many
  • Loving attendants

  • Long-stay discounts

Cons

  • Books out fast

Thanks for taking care of my cat!

“My cat Billie has stayed with them quite a number of times in the last few years. The place is clean and tidy. The “rooms” for each cat are quite generous, with multiple levels for them to climb/perch on.  They have a vaccination requirement, which is great! And the people are always friendly there and accommodating.”

The best service!

“I’m a repeat customer over the years and I have trusted them to even care for my 2 senior cats when I travel. They take great care and I feel the cats are in the safest hands. Even though they are great with medications and diet sensitivities.”

“First time boarding our cat while we were away and we were so glad we went with Cloud Nine. They were so helpful with arranging his last-minute accommodation and really great at keeping us updated while we were away (seriously, thank you for responding with patience to my many messages). They took fantastic care of him and were very sweet with our shy little guy. He returned to us happy and healthy.”

Great

“We have been taking our cat, Bast, to Bayside Cat Resort for over 10 years now.  Even at the advanced age of almost 18, she seemed to thoroughly enjoy her stay there.”

Always a pleasure

“We have used Bayside Cat Resort for many years now, and all of our cats are always very well taken care of. Whenever we drop them off, they are naturally anxious to be out of their home, but when we pick them up from Bayside Cat Resort, they look happy, relaxed, and comfortable.”
