As a cat owner for years, I’ve learned this the hard way: when your cat’s miserable, your life becomes one, too. That’s why after that trip to a sketchy grooming salon that left me and my cat stressed for days, I promised to never take my chances again when it comes to grooming.
After searching for the best cat grooming salons in Melbourne, I finally found these groomers that I can fully rely on. Doesn’t matter if I have to drive hours or spend a little more, because it’s always worth it to have peace of mind and a happy kitty.
How much do cat grooming services cost in Melbourne?
Cat grooming services in Melbourne range from $55 to $360, depending on the service needed.
1. Groomzy Cat Grooming

Address: 205 Merton St, Altona Meadows
Phone: +61448113933
Business hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 8:30 AM–5 PM
Groomzy is a sedation-free grooming salon exclusive only for cats. The cat groomer, Nikki, is a certified professional and trained by the National Cat Groomers Institute.
Groomzy offers full coat grooming, which includes brushing, bath, blow-dry, nail trim, and ear & eye cleaning. There are some specialized options as well, such as mat or pelt removal, brush outs, de-shedding, and more.
Nikki uses cruelty-free grooming methods to ensure that your cat is in good hands. For example, she avoids using a cage-dryer because it can cause distress and burns to the cats.
Owners are welcome to stay and observe as well.
Environment-wise, the place is quieter and less chaotic because, apart from it being cat-exclusive, Nikki only works on cats from the same household at a time. Meaning, your cat won’t be mixed up with others.
To ensure this, the salon only accepts services by appointment — no walk-ins or urgent requests. Customers can book up to one month in advance and pay a security deposit to secure a spot.
My cats are very happy
“Gotta say I love Nikki’s work. My two Mainecoons love going there. She treats them as if they are her own. Handles them with care and does an absolutely amazing job on the coats. Love smelling them when they get home. Highly recommend. Keeping the regular maintenance schedule Nikki recommended has kept any sort no knots or furballs away.”

Nikki and Paul were fantastic!
“I was a bit unsure about getting my two fluff balls, Charlie and Bella, groomed, but I’m so glad I did. Before their lion cuts, my allergies were out of control and they were shedding EVERYWHERE! That’s now a problem of the past! Now they feel so smooth and like velvet! In addition to that, Bella and Charlie will feel much cooler for the summer, so that’s a win for them! I knew one of my cats (Charlie) was going to be super anxious and defensive, but they handled him so well, distracting him and making sure he was okay the whole way through! My other cat Bella, seemed to weirdly enjoy the haircut and loved Paul! Definitely recommend Groomzy and Nikki and Paul!

2. Kylie’s Cat Grooming Services

Address: 16 Jennifer Ct, Derrimut
Phone: +61410553835
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9:15 AM–2 PM, 6–7:30 PM
Kylie’s offers studio-based grooming services for all cat breeds and sizes. Kylie has over 20 years of experience and qualifications, including veterinary assisting, welfare, and general health care.
Her grooming sessions are sedation- and stress-free, covering a full service of grooming needs, such as shaving, bath & dry, nail trimming, and tackling matted fur.
For cats with severe matting, the only option may be the lion shave (full shave) without a bath.
Kylie also has an online store for pet goods and clothing that complements her grooming business.
Overall, Kylie is a reliable groomer with an impressive ability to handle cats gently, especially the timid and challenging ones. Not to mention her rates are fairly priced as well.
However, aggressive cats (biting, lashing out, scratching, etc.) will incur an additional cost.
Love the work
“My furbaby Kitty isn’t the most accommodating, especially when he just came from a car ride (he hates it), but Kylie was really friendly and you can tell she loves animals and she calmed him down for and during the shave. We got through it just fine. Kylie was definitely handling Kitty really well (better than me, even)! It’s only his second shave ever. The first one is with sedation, which got me worried, but watching Kylie do it without sedating my baby was definitely less worrying. I am very happy with the work Kylie has done for us today. Kitty is very happy with his shave. I definitely recommend Kylie, and it’s not expensive at all, $80 for a full shave, nail trim, and ear cleaning is very reasonable.”

Amazed
“Kylie groomed our cat for the first time. We were amazed at how quickly she was able to shave our cat, who had matts in her fur. We were very stressed but Kylie made the entire experience a pleasure. While our cat may not have enjoyed the groom at the time. Ziggy is now a changed cat and so much happier than before. We think her fur was too long for her to manage. Ziggy used to be very grumpy. But after her groom is happier, wanting cuddles and purring. The fur must have been uncomfortable and made her unhappy. So thank you, Kylie, for Ziggy’s new hairdo.”

Business hours: Monday to Sunday, 8 AM–3 AM
XMMO is an all-in-one option, especially if you’re travelling, since they offer cat boarding, grooming, spa, and even vet services.

It’s pretty comprehensive, and you have all the options from standard grooming to a more luxurious pamper-like experience for your feline friend.
XMMO’s location is convenient for anyone residing in Melbourne’s western suburbs. It’s not along the CBD but still accessible (about an hour of travel).
I am so, so glad that I found XMMO.
“Ben and Tiara have been absolutely wonderful. They are great with communications and made checking in and out a breeze. The place is clean, beautiful and spacious. Cats get to come out and play in turn and have healthy, homemade meals. They know all their cats and which get along with which. They also sent videos and updates from time to time while we were away from our cat. Upon picking up our cat, they also gave a little toy. Everything is just so thoughtful. Ben also did very well with grooming little Chino. Even our vet said Chino is happy and healthy when we dropped him off for a check-up right after. 🙂 Thank you, Ben and Tiara!”

We had such a fantastic experience at HMMO Cat Hotel & Spa!
“We had our three Ragdolls professionally groomed for the first time to help with overall coat maintenance. Our kitties came home looking absolutely gorgeous, smelling amazing, and – most importantly – calm and content. You can truly tell this team knows cats and genuinely cares for them. The owners were so lovely, gentle, and empathetic. Each of our cats was even given a little toy – such a sweet touch! One of our boys, Louie, proudly carried his around all evening, bringing it up to both me and my husband again and again. We’re so happy to have found a grooming salon that not only does an incredible job, but also treats our fur babies with so much kindness.”

3. Felinity Cat Grooming

Felinity’s grooming sessions are one-on-one and sedation-free. One major requirement for their services is that they can only work on indoor cats to ensure safety and avoid health risks.
The salon is run by a team of experienced cat groomers who are attentive, compassionate, and will meet the specific needs of each cat.
They provide many of the standard grooming services: nail trimming, face & ear cleaning, de-shedding, and so on. They even do creative grooming if the client requests it using pet-safe products.
Anything from gentle baths to meticulous grooming, they provide with utmost care and attention.
I had an excellent experience.
“Shandi was amazing with both of my cats! My anxious, long-haired boy had gotten matted, and she managed him brilliantly. And when my other menace had taken almost all of his nail caps off within a few days, she was happy to give me some glue and spares to fix it up. Highly recommend Felinity and will definitely use them again!”

Highly recommended!
“I had an excellent experience with Shandi at Felinity! My Maine Coon has never looked better—his fur is softer than ever. The grooming session must have been very relaxing because he slept the whole day afterward.”

5. Fantastic Felines Cat Grooming

Address: Unit 2/15 Second Ave, Dandenong North
Phone: +61478970420
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM–4 PM
Fantastic Felines is run by Angela, a Certified Feline Master Groomer (CFMG) and a member of the National Cat Groomers Institute of America (NCGIA).
With over 25 years of experience, many past clients commend the salon for good results, even with timid cats.
Their grooming options include comb cut, sanitary clip, belly shave, de-shedding, and more. Some elaborate cuts, like lion cuts, are restricted to cats under 18 months or for aggressive cats.
The service is sedation-free, so your cat must be amenable to handling, and they will not work on cats with aggressive behavior.
When you contact them to arrange a booking, they’ll ask for a photo of your cat, its age, temperament, and desired grooming. Before securing a spot, the cat will undergo a screening to see if it meets the requirements.
Success!
“Angela did such a wonderful job with Yeti, my Ragdoll, at his very first grooming session. He came home looking immaculate, strutting around like he knew he was the star of the show, and purring as if to show off his new look. It was such a positive experience. Thank you, Angela, for making his first groom such a success!”
